De pe net adunate

Scurt, pe fuga, sa prind trenul. Un blog elegant, cu reviews despre books, movies and the like este aicarteaiparte.ro. Simplu si echilibrat, gusturi bune. O alte recomadare, mai putin obisnuita as zice, este o carte ce am descoperit-o curand. In Defense Of Food pe numele ei, scrisa de Michael Pollan. Chiar daca la prima vedere pare sa fie doar just another carte despre healthy eating, abordarea este fresh si ..realista ;) Merita rasfoita chiar si ca lectura …istorica. See for yourself intr-un manifesto(.pdf ~1Mb) publicat pe Changethis.com

Talent Makes Capital Dance

I just finished reading Funky Business: Talent Makes Capital Dance by Jonas Ridderstrale & Kjell Nordström and I must say I’m impressed. The thing that struck me most was that, even if the book was first published in 2001, it manages to “predict” quite accurate all the changes that really happened in the last 6 years in the business environment. Even more, it’s gives you a clear image of things to come.

It’s fresh & funny, thus making it very easy to read. The main idea that surrounds it is not necessarily a new one: because of the IT revolution, the world is getting flatter ( Thomas L. Friedman – The world is flat) and the traditional geographical and mentality borders are challenged and surpassed with an unprecedented speed. What really takes it out from the stack is the style of writing of its authors (which are two unconventional Swedish economics teachers) and the avalanche of “funky” examples that it gives.

Highly recommended. You can find it at Carturesti (39RON if you are in Bucharest) or you can order it on Amazon.
